When can I get my new puppy?
We allow most of our puppies to leave our home around the 8-week-old mark. We feel that most of the puppies need this bit of extra time to totally adjust to their new food and be mentally and emotionally prepared for their new homes. We are very careful to see that the puppies are growing and gaining weight well before leaving our home. We vaccinate at 6 and 9 weeks (we send an extra vaccination home with you if you pick up before 9 weeks).
I am interested in adopting a puppy what do I do?
Give us a call or drop us an email telling a little about yourself, your interests, where you live and what kind of puppy you are looking for.
I bought a puppy, what can I expect when I come and pick him/her up?
Well, first you can expect a nice, scenic drive out to our house. We live in a turn of the century yellow farmhouse in Cheney, WA. Then you can expect to be greeted by a few bloodhounds with wagging tails who will get into your vehicle if you let them. After you have been introduced to the clan, you come into our home and see your puppy running around the house. Then I will show you your puppy's file with all his/her information, registration papers and parents' copy of certificates.
Should I kennel my puppy?
Rather that a kennel, we perfer those wire puppy panels. They come in a variety of heights and can be shaped to any size and shape you want. We place a bed on one end and a pee sheet on the other end with a food and water dish. Puppies will not usually pee in their beds will usually pee pads. This teaches him/her to go on the pee pad. As the puppy grows you can grow the kennel with the panels. This way if you are gone for a length of time puppy is contained safely but still has room to play.
What about biting and chewing?
There are a number of things you can do to help this but keep in mind that like babies, puppies go through a teething process. They will bite and chew for a number of months. They will try to eat your best, most expensive shoes and maybe even a leg or two off your grandmother's antique table. Proper training, plenty of patience and strong discipline can help...eventually...but remember they are babies first and then toddlers and then unruly teenagers. They go through the stages of life just like children/people do. So if you are particularly concerned or worried about this part of your puppy training then PLEASE DO NOT BUY A BLOODHOUND PUPPY FROM US. They are far too precious and it will be just as hard on your puppy to experience that kind of trauma and negative energy. If you can see yourself frequently getting angry at them for doing something bad, then quite frankly we don't want this kind of environment for our puppies either.
What do I feed my puppy? What do you feed your puppies?
We feed our puppies/dogs top quality food with high protein content and no excess fillers. We start with large breed puppy chow as many new pet owners have easy access to it.
What is your health routine?
We vaccinate our puppies at 6 weeks, 9 weeks, and then at 12 weeks.. All of our dogs are given a yearly booster and wormed every six months.
What is your guarantee?
For more information on our guarantee, please read the contract page.
What about puppy health?
Our puppies are checked for hernias, tooth/jaw correctness, eye problems, heart murmurs, and other normal health isues that can be observed at 6-7 weeks old. Since every one of our dogs has been selected not just for disposition but also for health, we do not expect to find health problems in any of our puppies. Should one occur, however, we will not hide it! We will disclose what is found in their health checks.
All of our puppies are under veterinary supervision. They all see the vet at around 6 weeks and if we are concerned about any aspect of a particular puppy at any time, we will immediately take the puppy to our vet. Because most of our puppies are pre-sold, we do not take any chances with other people's puppies and take it upon ourselves to "doctor" the puppies in any way.
What about breeding my puppy?
If you are interested in breeding, please contact us for more information. Our puppies come with Limited AKC registration. For full registration, there is an extra charge and we would like to meet you personally.
